Waterfront Services

Living in remote areas means living with less access to services that are so often taken for granted elsewhere, swimming pools being just one example. In Canada, 70% of drownings occur in natural water bodies like lakes, rivers, and oceans. Communities without access to swimming pools are at greater risk in these often unsupervised aquatic environments. Anyone can drown, no one should. See how we can help elevate the safety and enjoyment of natural swimming areas in your community.

Waterfront Safety Inspections

Aquatic safety inspections are utilized to assess risk at a waterfront and identify areas that are in compliance with legislation, regulations, standards, and guidelines. The scope of the aquatic safety inspection includes areas bathers may access.

Waterfront Rescue Stations

Rescue stations provide vital lifesaving equipment for waterfronts such as ring buoys, throw bags, and first aid kits. We can help communities source rescue equipment that meets the unique needs of their waterfront and provide recommendations on where these stations should be located for maximum benefit.

Lifesaving Society Water Smart

We love programming outdoors! We can provide fun and engaging water safety programs in, on, and around your local swimming areas covering a wide range of messages such as boating safety, ice safety, identifying natural hazards, wearing lifejackets, and how to Swim to Survive.

Lifesaving Society Bronze Medallion

Bronze Medallion challenges the candidate both mentally and physically. Judgment, knowledge, skill, and fitness form the basis of Bronze Medallion training. Candidates acquire the assessment and problem-solving skills needed to make good decisions in, on, and around the water.

Lifesaving Society Water Smart® Activity Leader Workshop

The Lifesaving Society Water Smart® program focuses on key water safety messages such as swim with a buddy, swim to survive, safe boating, safe fishing, ice safety, and more. In this workshop we'll show community recreation leaders how to use free Lifesaving Society program materials and how to adapt activities to meet the needs of your unique waterfront.

Waterfront Safety Supervison Plans

Safety supervision plans are designed for supervised waterfronts. This document outlines employer expectations for staff communication, supervision,  positioning, and rotations. The safety supervision plan can be adapted to meet the unique needs of the waterfront area.

Lifejacket Loaner Stations

Lifejacket Loaner Stations provide lifejackets for the public to borrow, at no cost, and then return after use. We can help communities initiate the program with the Lifesaving Society, source funding for lifejackets, and set up a kiosk where it can be best utilized and accessed by the public.

Lifesaving Society Swim For Life

Swimming lessons for all ages, stages and abilities provided in your local swimming area can help your community learn vital-life saving skills to enhance safety, knowledge, skill, and awareness while ultimately preventing drowning and water-related injuries. No swimming pool required!

Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross

Bronze Cross begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as assistant lifeguards. Candidates strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills and begin to apply the principles and techniques of active surveillance.
